Paint n Sip for Art Therapy!
Please join the Swedish Covenant Hospital Associates' Board for an evening of wine, painting, and art appreciation in support of the SCH Artist in Residence program. Join us from 7-8pm to view pieces patients have made, learn a little about the program from Kari Lindholm-Johnson. At 8pm, we will sit down and paint a piece inspired by the hospital and nature to take home, guided by Kari. ABOUT THE PROGRAM Patients are encouraged to join in creative pursuits, often discovering new talents and modes of communicating their stories. Each participant is invited to actively engage his or her own healing through creation. Our artist in residence, Kari Lindholm-Johnson, states that in the rehabilitation process we learn to do things in new ways and utilize creative thinking for how to live life. The program offers group sessions, seasonal projects, and individually tailored experiences. Group offerings include weekly meetings within the Integrated Cancer Center, Rehabilitation Unit, Psychiatric Unit, and the Extended Care Facility. The seasonal projects include murals, mosaics, and other large scale activities within waiting rooms and shared spaces. The program has also expanded this year to include individual experiences such as room visits from our Certified Music Practitioner, volunteer-crafted art kit deliveries, and a fully equipped art cart.
