Join us for the Epilepsy 5k for their fourth year at Chicago's Montrose Harbor. Run along the waterfront while supporting a great cause on the morning of Sunday, May 20th! There will be tunes and prizes provided by 104.3 K-HITS!

Over 3,000 people from across the Chicagoland area are expected to take part in the Seventeenth Annual Greater Chicago Epilepsy 5K (3.1 miles). Two events will be held in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The first event will take place at Wheaton’s Cantigny Park on Saturday, May 6, 2017, followed by the largest event at Montrose Harbor in Chicago on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The Montrose Harbor 5K will include a timed run option.

Mike Adamle, a former sports anchor for NBC, will emcee the Chicago Montrose Harbor 5K event on May 20th. Adamle is best known for his co-host role on American Gladiator, and is also a former NFL player and a longtime supporter of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago. Adamle is encouraging others to join him at the 5K and will be offering participants the opportunity to “Run with Mike Adamle” in an effort to unite the community and support this worthy cause.

Both events will begin at 10:00 am, with participant check-in starting at 8:00 am. The advanced registration fee is $30 for adult and teen walkers aged 13 and older, $20 for children ages 5-12 and FREE to children under the age of 5. Advance runner registration (for the Montrose Harbor 5K only) is $40. On-site registration will incur an additional $10 fee. All participants will receive a free Greater Chicago Epilepsy Walk t-shirt and those that fundraise a minimum of $100 will receive an EFGC drawstring bag. In addition to the 5K, the events will include family-friendly entertainment, activities and a variety of incentive prizes.

Participants may register for the Greater Chicago Epilepsy 5K online by visiting the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago’s web site at www.epilepsychicago.org and clicking on the “Greater Chicago Epilepsy Walk” link. From there, individuals can register, build teams, and collect donations from their own fundraising page in just minutes. For more information, please contact the Foundation’s Director of Special Events and Development, Gayle Deja-Schultz at (312) 939-8622 x209 or gdeja-schultz@epilepsychicago.org.

All proceeds of this event will go directly to support the work of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago, an Illinois not-for-profit organization, which serves 43 counties, and offers counseling, advocacy and educational services to people with epilepsy, their families, and the communities in which they live. The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.
